SMS as a medium of communication has been like next stage of evolution of communicating in your personal and professional life. SMS, which picked up in the year 2000 in Europe had accidentally many of the features to overcome the limitations or the flaws of email as a communication medium.

• Volume of SMS messages is very high as compared to emails. If the user looks at the messages only in the Sent folder user will not be able to recollect – what this message was related to.
  SMS messages are generally sent in bulk related to particular task like messages in a bank to all those account holders who received a deposit of more than Rs. 10000/-. The SMS software should show that status of all these messages in my sent folder under the title “Saving Accounts Deposit Messages”, which is not being done by these Outlook type SMS software.
  
  
• SMS message delivery report gives the reason of non-delivery in case of failure to deliver, which is not being shown by these software. The delivery status of these messages needs to be proper as there is cost associated with each message that is being sent out unlike email.
  
  
• Unlike email as there is cost associated with each message being sent out there needs to be a cap on the number of messages that a user can sent. Most of these are windows based software that could be used by anybody by just started them with no concept of login user and their profiles.
  
  
• When you want to integrate the process of sending SMS messages with your existing application you would like to have transparency/information when data is being picked by these SMS application. But they would just pick the data and show the messages sent in the sent folder.
  
  
• Inbox is used by these Outlook type software to receive SMS messages which is just not enough as we need to show these messages based on keywords and respond to these incoming messages if need be.
